Judgement
Day
Judgements passed down by the Disciplinary Committee since Serie N...
Judgement on 14th January 2009
Disciplinary Committee -vs- Mr Dog
The Crime: Mr Dog did knowingly & wilfully make an illegal transfer at 12.10 pm on Saturday lunch time, outside of the permitted transfer window.
The Verdict - Guilty, of course
The Punishment - Due to the mitigating circumstances, as explained in Mr Dogs plea to the committee, they have taken a lenient view (this time). By a majority verdict of 2-1 (the other vote was for a 100 point deduction and a 3 month ban) Mr Mad Dog will not be fined but has been banned from entering the next transfer window (22nd – 24th Jan). ... Mr Dog does of course have the right of appeal... yeah right!!!!!
Judgement on 31st March 2008
Disciplinary Committee -vs- Mr. P Roberts
The Crime: In contravention of the PGW rules & all
common decency, Mr. Roberts jnr did willing pick up a player for his team that
had been won in the sealed bids process by our Esteemed Treasurer. The player, a
Mr. J Garrido of the Manchester area had been won in the sealed bids closing on
the 27th Mar 2008 by our very own Mr. N Phillips. Yet at precisely
18.32 on the 28th Mar 2008 Mr. Roberts jnr did willfully &
negligently select this player for his own failing team.
The Verdict: Guilty as hell.
The Punishment: Many were considered; Mr. Ambrozewski
favoring a 50 point deduction! However it was agreed by the committee that as
the offence was the convicted manager’s first offence of the season & the
situation was rectified with no loss to the injured party (Mr. Phillips) by the
Chairman; that they would take a lenient approach. Mr. Roberts has been fined £200k
and banned from entering the next transfer window.
Mr. Roberts does of course have the right of appeal,
but be warned that this committee does not look favorably on frivolous appeals
and does have the right to increase sentences!!!
Judgement on 19th February 2008
Disciplinary Committee -vs- M Ambrozewski (again!)
By his own admission Mr
Ambrozewski did transfer a player (one James Bullard who he had
previously "won" through the sealed bids process) into his
team outside of the last transfer window on Saturday 16th February
2008 at 1126. The committee have sat in judgement and considered in
doing so Mr Ambrozewski's unprompted confession, as well as his
previous offence from August 2007 (which although similar was
different in that the player on that occasion was a free transfer
whereas on this occasion it was a player "won" through
sealed bids) and passed sentence as follows: A number of punishments
were considered, including forced viewing for a 24 hour period of both
the recent Carling Cup Semi-Final 2nd Leg, and the FA Cup 5th Round
games played by your beloved Arsenal (this was considered too harsh
for even the most hardened criminal such as yourself), as well as
forced curfews, or even being made to actually organise a social
event!! In the end however, and after much deliberation, the committee
has decided that the slight difference in your two offences, and
indeed your honest confession, call for a level of leniency and cast
judgement as follows: - Single transfer window ban effective for the
next transfer window (due to open on 28th February Year Of Our Perry
2008, and close at 0900 1st March 2008) - £200k fine
Judgement on 27th November 2007
Disciplinary Committee -vs K Castelino (again!!)
The Offence: In breach of the ruling that quite clearly states "All transfers must be completed by 9.00am on the Saturday morning after the Transfer Window shuts." (as shown in the "Sealed Bids" section of the FL website) and "A manager then has until 09.00 on the Saturday morning after the transfer window shuts to make his transfers. It is the managers responsibility to make sure the transfer is valid (If you are unsure about any transfers then contact the chairman). If the transfer is not made before this time then the transfer will be void and the player returned to the free agents pool. However the manager will still be deducted his bid from his transfer fund." (from the PGW website) - you did complete the following transfers outside of the transfer window that opened on 15th November at 1900, and closed on 17th November at 0900: 24/11 Crouch for Finnan 18/11 Campbell for Rozenhal Clearly both transfers occurred outside of the window as evidenced above. To be clear the window closes at 0900 on the Saturday after the transfer window shuts, regardless of whether there are any games due to be played on that Saturday or not, any transfers made outside of those times are deemed a breach of PGW FL rules and will be referred to the Disciplinary Committee.
The Verdict: In light of no
justification having been provided for this breach of the rules,
further to the notification sent yesterday that the committee were
investigating, and no obvious justification being available. The
committee have sat, taken into consideration that this is your second
offence this season and therefore have no choice but to cast the
following sentence: - Two transfer window window ban (effective for
the next two windows starting with the one on 29th November and
concluding with the one on 13th December) - during this time no
voluntary changes may be made - however changes may be made in the
event of the non-playing defenders rule being breached but players may
only be picked from the free agents list and may not be bid on through
the sealed bids process. - Immediate reversal of both transfers with
no refund of the moneys paid for either Campbell or Crouch - £1m fine
Mitigation: The committee will listen to any pleas of mitigation,
although more for our own amusement than anything else!!
Judgement on 3rd September 2007
Judgement on 13th August 2007
Case against the Defendants
Disciplinary
Committee -vs- Ambrozewski
The Crime: In contravention of the It's A Perry Groves World Fantasy League rule
regarding free transfers during a transfer window, which clearly states
"Free transfer window will open on Friday morning (from 00.00) and will
close at 9.00am on Saturday morning. (33 hours)", Marek did transfer one
Joseph Barton (who himself is not unfamiliar with court proceedings we are told)
for one Sebastian Larsson (who we understand plays for Birmingham City). This
heinous crime was carried out at 10:18 on Saturday 11th August, a full 78
minutes after the window had closed. It is only thanks to the diligent and
honourable actions of our esteemed chairman that the damage that was done was
averted, as the change was immediately reversed at the time preventing any
illegal points to have been gained from said misdemeanour.
The Verdict
Guilty as charged (well isn't it always??!!) The Sentence: In considering it's sentence the committee has taken into account your previous good behaviour (putting aside the now infamous Beckham for Keane and 6 pints incident!!), and also the fact that this was a new rule bought in this year (not that this should be seen as an excuse mind you!!), having studied the precedents the committee has no choice but to pass sentence of a 1 transfer window ban and a £200k fine both to be implemented immediately meaning you are banned from the next transfer window which is due on 23rd August 2007.
Judgement on 15th April 2007
Case against the Defendants
Graham Rob made his made his free transfers while the transfer window was shut. Kevin transfered in an an illegal player (ie one who had been dropped this same week)
The Verdict
The
committee has sat in consideration of the indiscretions committed by yourselves
during last weeks transfer window and has passed judgement as guilty
in both cases - full details and punishments listed below:
(1)
Graham Roberts - manager of "Mouldy Old Cole" did transfer three
players (yes 3!!! Meite, Bridge and Heinze - for whom he had NOT placed bids
through the sealed bid process) into his squad on Friday 13th April (unlucky for
him!!) at 1626BST - this is in direct contravention of the Fantasy League
rule which
states that "free pick" players may only be transferred on a first
come first served basis on a Saturday (i.e. any time from midnight onwards). In
this instance no profit/loss was actually made from these actions - however it
should be pointed out that this is not the first time that this manager has been
put before the committee. Verdict:
Guilty
Punishment:
In considering the punishment the commitee took into account that this is not
the first time the manager has been before the committee and therefore
respectfully suggests he familiarises himself with the rules for next season!
Ban from any remaining transfer windows this season unless required to
replace a player under the non-playing defender rule.
Immediate replacement of the three players illegally added to his squad (Meite,
Bridge and Heinze) with the following: Armstrong (Sheff Utd), Rosenior (Fulham),
and Konchesky (West Ham).
(2) Kevin Castellino - manager of "Who's The Donkey" - did transfer Evra of Man U into his squad (Evra having been one of the players dropped by the aforementioned Mr Roberts above) in contravention of the ruling that players dropped by one team may not be picked up by another team during the same transfer window. In his defence Mr Castellino has reported that he wasn't sure whether this contravened the rules and so didn't play Evra during this weekends round of games Again in this instance no profit/loss was actually made from the contravention and it should also be pointed out that Mr Castelino has a previously unblemished record where the Disciplinary Committee is concerned.
Punishment:
Immediate reversal of the transfer (i.e. Voltz goes back into the squad)
The
required changes will be carried out as soon as possible to allow them to take
effect before this weeks round of games.
Let's
hope this is the last sitting of the committee for this season.
Judgement on 7th Feb 2007
Case against the Defendants
Mad Dog did replace his non-playing defender with a defender who had not played in the previous Premier League game for his club
The Verdict
Following an indiscretion bought to it's attention (namely that Mad Dog Riches did wilfully replace a non-playing defender with a non-qualifying player under PGW FL rules) and then offered a frankly weak excuse in his defence - the Disciplinary Committee has sat and after due consideration (well 5 mins!!) has handed down the following punishment - Offending player to be replaced by one of the committee's choosing and to be played in any qualifying games until the next transfer window after which After the next transfer window the Committee's choice of player may be replaced but (a) Must be a qualifying player under PGW rules and (b) May not be Bouma.
Judgement on 13th Nov 2006
Case against the Defendants
2 cases in one week... Nigel replaced a defender outside of the transfer window and benefited 3points.
Paul replaced his non-playing defender a day before the transfer window actually opened.
The Verdict
Following the charges leveled against you below, the jury has sat, the mitigations considered, precedents have been studied and the committee has deemed the following punishments suitable in light of the seriousness of the offences, the fact that this was not a first time before the panel for either of you, and finally consistency against previous similar offences by other offenders:
Guilty as charged
The Punishment:
Mr. Roberts - £500k fine and a one transfer window ban (effective the next window on 23rd November 2006)
Mr. Phillips - £500k fine and a two transfer window ban (effective the windows on 23rd November and 7th December 2006)
The Precedent:
In April 2006 - Mare transferred a free player (SWAP) into his team before the opening of the "free" phase of the transfer window - for that offence he received a 500k fine and a reversal of the transfer. (Reversal of transfer is not an option in either instance here as it would mean putting a non-playing defender back in - it should also be considered that this is a second offence for both managers concerned and therefore by rights the punishment is duly higher).
Fines will be deducted from season budgets forthwith.
Any appeals will probably be fruitless but can still be submitted for our amusement anyway!! :-)
Regards
Your Disciplinary Committee
